Everydayness in teaching regional geography

The aim of the diploma thesis is to find out the potential of using the phenomenon of the everydayness in the teaching of regional geography. In the theoretical part, the concept of everydayness is presented from different perspectives, and we further focus on its connection with geography. In the practical part of the diploma thesis, several activities based on the stories of the daily life of the inhabitants of the selected region are put forward and tested in the lesson. The investigation was carried out using qualitative research methods. The source of the data were the notes from the participants' observation conducted during the lesson and the submitted outputs of the students (in the form of worksheets or a short questionnaire). These data were then analyzed, and the results were subjected to a discussion in which they were confronted with the fulfillment of the respective objectives. The conclusion of the thesis contains, among other things, suggestions for further possible geographical research in the field of everydayness. key words: everydayness, regional geography, geography of everyday life, geographic education, qualitative research

This diploma thesis deals with integrated teaching, its application both in our country and abroad and with its possible uses when teaching Geography and Natural History. The aim of the thesis was to create teaching activities connecting those two subjects with biogeographical content. Three teaching activities focusing on distribution of organisms in the area of Africa, Australia and Oceania and America had been created in total. Two of the activities had been designed to incorporate another subjects, namely Art and Czech Language. A conception of teaching of biomes and biogeography and a suggested arrangement of educational content in Geography and Natural History at second stages of elementary schools are also included in the thesis.
Multimediální pomůcka pro výuku regionální geografie Afriky

The diploma thesis deals with the creation of multimedia aid with a focus on regional geography of Africa which is useful especially in geography lessons at the lower secondary school. The introductory chapter about the goals of the thesis is followed by a theoretical part of the thesis which deals with multimedia in general and their position in teaching and regional geography. In the case of regional geography its meaning is solved together with the principles of its teaching. The following pages deal with many kinds of publications that try to describe a wide range of topics about the entire African continent. After the methodological chapter which describes the process of creating individual multimedia elements of the aid and the multimedia aid as a whole there is a chapter about the multimedia aid itself. Except the description of the aid, which is available from www.sites.google.com/view/rg-afrika there is a description of several selected multimedia elements (illustrations, graphs, maps, videos and tasks for students) with their specific usage. In general, the usage of the aid is primarily in better representation of the curriculum and possible improvement of teaching. An important chapter is also testing of the multimedia aid in practice. It describes how the aid was tested directly in the classroom with students and how they reacted to individual multimedia elements.

Where I Come From - Velké Březno and the surrounding area The aim of this work is to create an educational project for pupils of the fourth and fifth grades to help them understand the connections between countryside, natural resources, population density, economic use of resources and development of transportation networks in the 19th and 20th centuries. The scope of this thesis is determined by the area encompassed by the school district of Velké Březno, that is, the right bank of the Elbe from Ústi nad Labem to Těchlovice. The theoretical part describes the area for which the project has been proposed from the socio- geographic point of view, and includes methods and lesson formats. The practical part contains work material meant as didactic inspiration for teaching local history.
The teaching of regional geography in Montessori schools

The teaching of regional geography in Montessori schools Abstract The goal of this thesis is to present the importance and position of the curriculum of regional geography and to analyze the approaches to teaching methods of regional geography, which are used in Montessori schools in the Czech Republic and are applicable in teaching geography in other types of schools. Specifically, we study pupils in the higher grades of primary schools and the lower grades of a grammar school. The work deals with this topic in two main parts. The first theoretical part is devoted to familiarization with the history of regional geography as a scientific discipline and, subsequently, with the functions and subject of study of regional geography in general. The next section deals with the curriculum and teaching of regional geography. At the end of the theoretical part, there are chapters devoted to Montessori education and methodology utilized in this thesis. The second part summerizes results of qualitative research, including the method of semi-structured interviews with teachers of regional geography and participatory observations in classes. The main aim of this thesis is to create educational material for teaching of regional geography in the 7th year of primary school. The thesis uses a variety of activating methods. Teaching activities have three main themes - Tribes, Globalization and Colonialism. The thesis contains also a methodological guide for teachers that includes instructions, utilities, benefits and other information that will help teachers with the application of these materials in the teaching of geography. The author of all processed according to existing curricula in force in the Czech Republic, especially FEP and SEP of five primary schools.

This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of regional geography of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the second degree of basic school. The main goal was to find out how the approach to teaching of regional geography of the United Kingdom varies in Grammar school in Sedlčany and basic school in Kosova Hora. Another goal was to find out how much pupils know about the topic. Theoretical part deals with a role of the thesis in curricular documents valid in the Czech Republic such as Framework Educational Program, School Educational Program, Thematic Plans and selected Geography and English language textbooks. One part of the thesis is dedicated to didactic analysis of these textbooks. Pilot survey for pupils of tercie at Grammar school Sedlčany and 8th grade of Basic school in Kosova Hora was based on perused materials and visits of school lessons. According to the results of the survey were prepeared ideas for educational activities which can be used in Geography and English lessons. These activities can be processed more in diploma thesis.
The Teaching Regional Geography of America in Czech and Foreign Environment at Lower Secondary School

The main topic of this thesis is teaching regional geography of America in Czech and foreign environment at lower secondary school. The main objective is to elaborate an analysis of approaches and different concepts of teaching in the monitored countries, such as the Czech Republic, the USA and the United Kingdom. Part of the thesis is a didactical analysis of Czech textbooks and workbooks of geography for lower secondary school and their subsequent comparison with available foreign literature. The analysis is primarily focused on the content of the regional geography of America. An important part of the thesis is a definition of basic principles in the curriculum documents in chosen countries. In order to create ideas about the real form of geography teaching, a survey based on structured interviews was conducted in the form of a semi-structured interview with teachers of geography of selected schools.
Cartographical Assessment of regional geography teaching

The goal of this thesis is to analyse the role of the teacher in teaching regional geography at school using cartographic tools - mental and teaching maps. Suitable class of elementary school was chosen at first and then the research was taken. The pupils had to draw their mental maps of chosen continent and complete the questionnaire. That served as a source of possible data influence or distortion in drawen maps. Then the mental and teaching maps were compared and was evaluated the role of the teacher. The important part of this thesis is the discussion of reached results.
